Toyota Motorsport GmbH has announced that the GT86 CS-R3 has become the first rally car with rear-wheel drive to obtain the approval of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) in the XXI century.
After extensive development, delayed by the challenge of being the first vehicle with rear-wheel drive category R3 before exclusive vehicles with front-wheel drive, the GT86 CS-R3 can now compete in any rally governed by the regulations of the FIA including the World Rally Championship - World Rally Championship (WRC) -.
Inspired by that legacy, the new rally car with rear-wheel drive TMG is intended for private customers looking for a competitive R3 vehicle.
It has invested a lot of work in the two-liter boxer engine naturally aspirated with the rules of R3 demanded a reduction in the compression ratio from the level of the road vehicle.
